Judge Denies Reynolds Motions In Patent Suit

Law360, New York (June 29, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has cleared the way for Star Scientific’s lawsuit against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., denying Reynolds’ motion for summary judgment in a case over a patent that Star Scientific hopes could yield billions of dollars in licensing revenue.

Judge Alexander Williams Jr. of U.S. District Court in Maryland issued an order Thursday denying the last summary-judgment motion filed by Reynolds.

The judge's order follows the recommendations of a Special Master who was appointed to review Reynolds' motions.
