Salazar Seeks $29M For DOI In Response To Spill

Law360, New York (May 27, 2010, 3:07 PM EDT) -- In the wake of the massive BP PLC oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar has asked a U.S. House of Representatives committee to approve a $29 million budget supplement that will bolster the agency’s enforcement and inspection abilities for offshore drilling.

Salazar lobbied for the extra funds at a hearing Thursday morning before the House Committee on Appropriations’ subcommittee on the interior examining the regulatory response to the BP-Transocean Ltd. Deepwater Horizon oil disaster.
