Gaps Remain In FDA Food Safety Oversight: Report

Law360, New York (May 25, 2010, 7:13 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has started addressing its weaknesses in ensuring food safety but still lacks the scientific resources to adequately oversee food labeling, fresh produce and dietary supplements, a new government report has found.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office said in a report released Monday that the FDA had started to address recommendations that an FDA advisory board made in 2007 about the need for better science at the agency, but gaps still remained.
