WTO Criticizes Chinese Environmental Export Barriers

Law360, New York (June 1, 2010, 5:59 PM EDT) -- Chinese efforts to use export barriers to conserve energy and natural resources likely give its domestic manufacturers an unfair edge without efficiently protecting the environment, according to a new report from the World Trade Organization.

While China has lifted some of its barriers to imports, restrictions on exports have not fallen at the same rate, the WTO Secretariat said in a report released Monday, as the organization embarked on a three-day review of Chinese trade policy.
