Ill. Lawmakers OK Water Quality Response Bill

Law360, New York (June 2, 2010, 2:38 PM EDT) -- The Illinois General Assembly has approved a bill that requires community water systems to take action when carcinogenic volatile organic compounds are found in the water supply.

The bill, which makes it a violation of the state's Environmental Protection Act for owners of water systems to fail to implement a response plan, passed both the Illinois Senate and House of Representatives in early May and was sent to Gov. Pat Quinn on Tuesday.
