EU High Court OKs Caps On Cell Phone Roaming Rates

Law360, New York (June 8, 2010, 11:28 AM EDT) -- The European Union's highest court on Tuesday turned aside a challenge to caps on cell phone roaming charges brought by cell phone service providers Vodafone Ltd., Telefonica O2 Europe PLC, T-Mobile International AG and Orange Personal Communications Services Ltd.

A 13-judge panel of the European Court of Justice handed down the decision, finding that the limits — which were enacted in 2007 to rein in what were seen at the time as excessive roaming charges — are legal.
