Class Action Attorneys Win Access To Contact Data

Law360, New York (January 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The California Supreme Court has ruled that attorneys who file class actions over employment and product liability matters should be allowed better access to the contact information of individuals who may help strengthen their cases.

In a unanimous decision Thursday, the Supreme Court of California rejected a manufacturer’s claim that the opt-out procedure, in which names of complaining customers are revealed unless they oppose, breaches the right to privacy.
