Textscape Patent Suit Over Abobe Reader Squelched

Law360, New York (June 10, 2010, 5:00 PM EDT) -- A magistrate judge has dismissed Textscape LLC's infringement suit against Abobe Systems Inc. over its Acrobat Reader software, finding the asserted patent invalid due to prior art.

Magistrate Judge Bernard Zimmerman of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled Monday that the plaintiff's failure to tie three related textmapping patents together put the effective date for the patent-in-suit in 1997 and rendered it invalid as anticipated.
