Meyer Wins $1M In Cookware IP Spat With Belk

Law360, New York (June 9, 2010, 7:11 PM EDT) -- Leading cookware company Meyer Corp. has won $1.2 million from department store chain Belk Inc., which a federal jury determined had essentially copied elements of one of Meyer's cookware lines and incorporated it into its own product.

Magistrate Judge David S. Cayer of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina entered final judgment by jury verdict Tuesday, finding that Belk's Biltmore Estate cookware line infringed the trade dress of Meyer's Anolon Advanced line. The jury gave its verdict June 4.
