Health Data Collectors Attack Prescription Law

Law360, New York (January 29, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A bench trial kicked off on Monday in a case that has seen two pharmaceutical data mining companies take aim at an unprecedented New Hampshire law that bans the commercial use of information on what drugs physicians prescribe.

IMS Health Inc. and Verispan LLC collect prescription data from pharmacies, physicians, and hospitals and sell it to pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and government agencies.
