Ex-Rothstein COO Pleads Guilty In $1.2B Ponzi Scheme

Law360, New York (June 11, 2010, 6:59 PM EDT) -- The former chief operating officer of defunct Florida law firm Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler PA pled guilty Friday for her role in disgraced former attorney Scott W. Rothstein's $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme.

Debra Villegas, 42, entered a guilty plea to one count of money laundering conspiracy at a change-of-plea hearing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Villegas' attorney Robert W. Stickney confirmed that the court accepted her plea and continued Villegas on bond until her sentencing hearing.
