Senate Readies Bill To Fix Drilling Safety, Oversight

Law360, New York (June 23, 2010, 1:28 PM EDT) -- Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee chairman Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., and ranking member Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, are preparing a bill to overhaul the regulation and upgrade the safety of oil and gas drilling on the Outer Continental Shelf.

S. 3516, the OCS Reform Act of 2010, was introduced Monday in the Senate by Bingaman, Murkowski and Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., in response to the ongoing spill from a BP PLC-operated offshore Deepwater Horizon rig.
