EU Fines 17 Bathroom Fitting Cos. €622M Over Cartel

Law360, New York (June 23, 2010, 12:12 PM EDT) -- The European Commission fined 17 bathroom fixture manufacturers more than €622 million ($761 million) for price-fixing Wednesday, though the antitrust watchdog slashed fines for five of the companies that claimed they could not pay the full penalties.

The 12-year-long cartel spanned six countries within the European Union, leading the regulator to fine some of the biggest names in the industry, including German firms Duravit, Villeroy & Boch AG, Grohe AG, Hansa, Kludi GmbH & Co. KG and Aloys F. Dornbracht GmbH & Co. KG.
