WhitServe Wins $8.4M In Suit Over IP Renewal System

Law360, New York (July 1, 2010, 3:20 PM EDT) -- A federal court has signed off on a jury verdict awarding WhitServe LLC — the maker of a system that notifies customers about patent renewal deadlines — $8.4 million in damages in a patent infringement suit against rival Computer Packages Inc.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut on Tuesday affirmed the verdict, which handed WhitServe compensatory damages for CPi's infringement of four patents covering online patent annuity payment business Net Docket.
