EPA Issues Waste Management Plan For BP Spill

Law360, New York (July 2, 2010, 2:02 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued a directive to BP PLC outlining how it should manage wastes and contamination arising from the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The directive, announced Thursday by the EPA and the U.S. Coast Guard, will require the oil giant to submit specific plans, waste reports and tracking systems for liquid and solid waste.

BP must also allow the EPA and state agencies access to any facilities where it is storing waste and allow agencies to inspect samples....
