Sunflower Wins Permit For Long-Awaited Power Plant

Law360, New York (July 6, 2010, 1:13 PM EDT) -- Sunflower Electric Power Corp. has received a draft air quality permit for a long-awaited 895-megawatt coal-fired power plant in western Kansas that was originally rejected due to concerns over greenhouse gas emissions.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment on Wednesday issued a draft prevention of significant deterioration air quality construction permit for the power plant, located four miles south of Holcomb, Kan. A public comment period will now last until Aug. 15.
