Law360, New York (July 7, 2010, 5:13 PM EDT) -- Electronic equipment maker Celestica Corp. has gained preliminary approval of a class action settlement in a case that was slated for an August trial, agreeing to fork over $2.5 million for allegedly violating California law by failing to pay workers for meal breaks and time spent waiting in security lines.

Judge Virginia A. Phillips rendered her approval Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, saying the deal generally provided fair compensation for plaintiffs and avoided the risks of trial. She set...
