Textile Co. Hits DLA Piper With $17M Negligence Suit

Law360, New York (July 7, 2010, 6:56 PM EDT) -- DelGreco & Co. Inc. has filed a $17 million malpractice lawsuit accusing DLA Piper of botching an international brand licensing deal and then withdrawing as counsel as the textile and furniture seller sought relief via arbitration.

The law firm was negligent in failing to go over key details before the New York-based plaintiff signed a $1 million promissory note to fund the deal with a company called Eastwest International (Taiwan) Enterprises, according to the complaint, filed Tuesday in the New York County Supreme Court.
