Travelers Sued Over Asbestos Defense Coverage

Law360, New York (July 8, 2010, 3:07 PM EDT) -- Black & Veatch Corp. has sued Travelers Indemnity Co., seeking coverage for defense costs in a pair of asbestos-related lawsuits under a 50-year-old policy the engineering and construction firm originally purchased from Travelers predecessor Aetna Casualty and Surety Co.

The complaint, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, accuses Travelers of improperly denying claims that Black & Veatch filed under the policy it bought from Aetna in 1956.
