Plaintiffs Attorneys Find FLSA Ally In DOL

Law360, New York (July 12, 2010, 5:07 PM EDT) -- Litigation under the Fair Labor Standards Act rose again in the second quarter as plaintiffs counsel continue to focus on the statute, thanks in part to a more employee-friendly reading of the act by the current U.S. Department of Labor, attorneys said.

The number of FLSA cases filed in federal courts in the second quarter hit 1,778, which is a 22.45 percent increase from the first quarter and a 25.39 percent jump over the second quarter of 2009, according to Law360 research.
