Hope Now Settles FTC Mortgage Fraud Fight

Law360, New York (July 13, 2010, 1:59 PM EDT) -- Hope Now Modifications LLC and two of its officers have agreed to stop marketing their mortgage-modification services in order to settle a suit in which the Federal Trade Commission accused them of defrauding homeowners and posing as the federally endorsed Hope Now Alliance.

Judge Jerome B. Simandle of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey signed off Monday on the settlement, which requires Hope Now and the two officers to transfer assets from more than a dozen bank accounts to the FTC....
