Shippers Want Pacific Antitrust MDL Tossed

Law360, New York (July 13, 2010, 12:59 PM EDT) -- A group of shipping companies has asked a federal court to toss massive multidistrict litigation alleging they conspired to fix rates and eliminate competition in the market for freight services between the continental U.S., Hawaii and Guam.

The shipping companies filed a motion to dismiss Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, arguing that the second amended consolidated class action complaint in the lawsuit failed to correct the deficiencies of a complaint the court dismissed in August.
