Zenith Awarded $75M In HDTV Patent Suit

Law360, New York (July 13, 2010, 6:36 PM ET) -- A federal judge has ordered Westinghouse Digital Electronics LLC to pay Zenith Electronics LLC over $75 million in royalty and enhanced damages for willfully infringing several patents covering high-definition television technology.

Judge David Folsom of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued a final judgment Tuesday directing TV manufacturer Westinghouse to shell out $25.4 million in royalty damages and $50.9 million in enhanced damages, in addition to prejudgment interest on the royalty figure.
