House Panel OKs Offshore Drilling Ban For Unsafe Cos.

Law360, New York (July 14, 2010, 6:16 PM EDT) -- A U.S. House of Representatives panel on Wednesday approved a seven-year ban on offshore oil and gas drilling for companies with major worker safety and environmental violations.

The House Natural Resources Committee passed by a voice vote an amendment to H.R. 3534, the Consolidated Land, Energy and Aquatic Resources Act, which is a larger overhaul of offshore oil and gas drilling sponsored by Rep. Nick J. Rahall, D-W.Va.
