Iovate To Pay FTC $5.5M In False Health Claims Suit

Law360, New York (July 15, 2010, 11:22 AM EDT) -- Iovate Health Sciences USA has agreed to pay $5.5 million to settle a Federal Trade Commission suit alleging the dietary supplement maker falsely claimed that its products could help people treat colds and lose weight.

The agency said Wednesday that the settlement funds would be used to pay refunds to consumers who bought Accelis; nanoSLIM; and any Cold MD, Germ MD or Allergy MD product sold online or in retail stores.
