Virgin Islands Superfund Claims V. Lockheed Clipped

Law360, New York (July 15, 2010, 4:25 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has tossed as time-barred several Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act claims in the U.S. Virgin Islands' suit against oil refiners, alumina factories, Lockheed Martin Corp. and others over the cleanup of one of the territory's main freshwater sources.

Judge Harvey Bartle of the U.S. District Court of the Virgin Islands on Tuesday partly granted motions for summary judgment filed by Lockheed, Hess Oil Virgin Islands Corp., Alcoa World Alumina LLC and a handful of other defendants.
