Investor Accuses Amedisys Of Medicare Fraud

Law360, New York (July 19, 2010, 1:36 PM EDT) -- Hospice service provider Amedisys Inc. defrauded shareholders for years by pushing extra in-home therapy visits on its patients, inflating Medicare billing rates and therefore its earnings, according to a newly filed putative class action.

Investor Arik Dvinsky's complaint, lodged Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, accuses the company of misleading investors by running a scheme that began in 2005 and came to light this year when The Wall Street Journal reported the company was taking advantage of the system....
