Validity Of Pfizer's Protonix Patent Upheld

Law360, New York (July 19, 2010, 3:29 PM EDT) -- A district court has affirmed the validity of Pfizer Inc.’s patent covering heartburn treatment Protonix, clearing the way for Pfizer to pursue damages in its infringement case against two generic drug manufacturers.

Judge Jose L. Linares of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey on Friday backed a jury’s April 23 finding that the patent was not invalid based on obviousness and double-patenting.
