Ex-Miners Say Massey Violated WVa Wage Laws

Law360, New York (July 19, 2010, 5:11 PM EDT) -- Five former employees have hit a Massey Energy Co. subsidiary with a putative class action accusing it of requiring coal miners to attend meetings, conduct inspections and perform other tasks off the clock without pay.

Massey Coal Services Inc. denied in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia on Friday the miners' claims that it violated the state's Wage Payment and Collection Act.
