Salary Survey: More Firms Push Into Top Tier

Law360, New York (February 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- With three new firms joining the top tier this year, more than 30 firms are now paying first-year associates $160,000, our salary survey shows.

After Simpson Thacher & Bartlett announced it would increase salaries in its New York office from last year’s high of $145,000 to a whopping $160,000, fellow New York top-tier firms quickly followed suit in an effort to remain competitive, according to Marci Krufa, a principal at consulting firm Altman Weil.
