Opponents Rebuke Duke's Coal-Fired Growth Plan

Law360, New York (February 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Environmental groups and other opponents of Duke Energy’s proposal to build two new coal-fired power plants in North Carolina urged state regulators on Wednesday to reject the company’s request, citing the pollution and high costs to consumers the plant would generate.

The brief was filed on behalf of the Southern Alliance of Clean Energy, the Southern Environmental Law Center, Environmental Defense, the North Carolina Waste Awareness and Reduction Network and the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association.
