9th Circ. Refuses To Halt Grand Canyon Uranium Mine

Law360, New York (July 21, 2010, 4:31 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has rejected an emergency motion by the Center for Biological Diversity and other environmental groups to halt uranium mining within miles of Grand Canyon National Park.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Tuesday denied a motion the groups filed a day earlier that sought to block the mine no later than July 29.

According to the groups, an emergency injunction was needed because operations by Denison Mines Corp. were ongoing and are irreparably harming groundwater.
