13 States Put Weight Behind EPA Tailoring Rule

Law360, New York (July 23, 2010, 3:47 PM ET) -- A coalition of 13 states has asked to join on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's side in a federal appeals court battle over greenhouse gas permitting under the Clean Air Act, arguing that the environment and their budgets are at stake.

New York, California, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island filed a joint motion to intervene as defendants in the case Thursday in U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
