Fastener Makers Want Antitrust Claims Thrown Out

Law360, New York (July 26, 2010, 5:13 PM EDT) -- YKK Corp., Coats Holdings Inc., Scoville Fasteners Inc. and other major fastener makers facing accusations of forming price-fixing cartels have asked the judge overseeing the consolidated litigation to toss the case, saying the antitrust claims do not hold water.

The plaintiffs' claims are barred by the statute of limitations, and the consolidated class action complaint fails to state an antitrust claim upon which relief can be granted, the defendants said Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
