Sea Star Settles Shipping Antitrust Claims For $18.5M

Law360, New York (July 28, 2010, 2:54 PM EDT) -- Sea Star Line LLC has agreed to pay $18.5 million to settle direct purchasers' claims in multidistrict litigation accusing the shipping company and its rivals of conspiring to eliminate competition in the market for freight services between the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Attorneys for the plaintiffs filed a sealed motion seeking preliminary approval for the settlement in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico on Tuesday.
