Temp Agency Settles EEOC's Race, Gender Bias Suit

Law360, New York (July 29, 2010, 2:16 PM EDT) -- Area Temps Inc., a temporary staffing agency based in Northeast Ohio, has agreed to pay $650,000 to put to rest a government class action alleging the company made race- and gender-based job assignments based on the requests of clients.

The three-year consent decree announced Tuesday by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission also requires the company to give notice to clients and job applicants of its legal obligations under federal anti-discrimination law.

Area Temps did not admit guilt or wrongdoing in the settlement.
