Apple Hit With Patent Suit Over Online Media Software

Law360, New York (July 29, 2010, 1:12 PM ET) -- Apple Inc. is facing an infringement suit from an Israeli technology company claiming the technology titan ripped off a media streaming patent.

Ra'anana, Israel-based Emblaze Ltd. announced the suit Thursday, saying Apple has refused to license the technology at issue.

According to Emblaze, it warned Apple in December that the iPhone maker's recently announced HTTP live streaming application, used on the iPhone, the iPod touch, the Mac OS X operating system and the iPad, would infringe the plaintiff's patent for streaming technology.
