Sen. Seeks Stricter Rules For Oil Spill Dispersants

Law360, New York (July 29, 2010, 4:58 PM EDT) -- Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., has introduced a measure that would forbid the use of untested chemicals as dispersants for oil spills, a proposal prompted by the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

The legislation, dubbed the Safe Dispersants Act, would require advanced testing on the chemicals used as dispersants to determine the long-term effects on human and marine health.
