Family Dollar Loses Bid To Nix Women's Pay Claims

Law360, New York (July 30, 2010, 6:44 PM EDT) -- Family Dollar Stores Inc. has lost a bid for summary judgment on claims in a putative class action brought by the retail chain's female managers alleging disparate pay in spite of evidence some women were actually paid more than their male counterparts.

Judge Robert Conrad of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina on Thursday denied without prejudice Family Dollar's bid to strike claims for disparate impact, disparate treatment and punitive damages under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
