Apple Patent Claim Nixed In ITC Spat With Nokia

Law360, New York (August 2, 2010, 5:14 PM EDT) -- A U.S. International Trade Commission administrative law judge has invalidated one claim of an Apple Inc. patent for smartphone technology in the iPhone maker's Section 337 suit against Nokia Corp., part of a sprawling claim construction ruling in the case.

Claim 1 of U.S. Patent Number 5,455,599, one of four patents asserted by Apple in the case, is invalid in its entirety because a key claim term is indefinite, Administrative Law Judge Charles E. Bullock ruled Friday.
