Ex-NFL Players Sue Electronic Arts Over Madden Games

Law360, New York (August 03, 2010, 1:43 PM ET) -- Electronic Arts Inc. is facing a new class action on behalf of 6,000 former NFL players who say the video game maker used their likenesses without their permission in the popular Madden NFL video game series.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, calling the company's exploitation of retired NFL players blatant and prolific because the 2009 edition of the Madden NFL game included more than 140 historic teams with thousands of retired athletes.
