Google To Allow Trademarked Ad Keywords In EU

Law360, New York (August 4, 2010, 3:01 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. announced Wednesday that it will soon allow advertisers in most European countries to select a third party's trademark as an AdWords keyword, bringing its European AdWords policy closer in line with other countries' following a legal victory against a group of French brand owners in March.

Beginning Sept. 14, Google will ease its restriction on trademarked keywords in most European nations, allowing companies to bid for ad space alongside a competitor's search results, according to the search giant.
