Chicago Teachers Union Sues To Halt Mass Layoffs

Law360, New York (August 4, 2010, 6:23 PM EDT) -- Chicago's teachers union has hit the city's public school system with a suit seeking to put a stop to the mass dismissal of 850 teachers and support staff, which the teachers say violates their contract.

Chicago Teachers Union said Tuesday that the layoffs violate their members' due process rights under the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution and under their labor contract.
