EEOC Warned Census Bureau About Race Bias: Suit

Law360, New York (August 5, 2010, 6:35 PM EDT) -- A putative class of minority job applicants has accused the U.S. Census Bureau of ignoring warnings from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission about the potential for racial discrimination in its hiring practices.

The EEOC sent a letter to the bureau in July 2009 saying it was unlawful to deny employment based on an arrest record alone, plaintiffs allege in an amended complaint lodged Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
