EPA Restricts Mercury Emissions From Cement Kilns

Law360, New York (August 9, 2010, 6:04 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued a final rule Monday restricting emissions of mercury and other pollutants from cement kilns, the third-largest source of mercury air emissions in the U.S.

The rule, which represents the nation's first limit on mercury air emissions from existing cement kilns, is expected to reduce annual mercury emissions by 92 percent, or 16,600 pounds, by the time it takes full effect in 2013, EPA said.
