Cell Phone Patent Suit V. Motorola, Nokia Survives

Law360, New York (August 11, 2010, 3:16 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has denied bids for summary judgment from Motorola Inc. and Nokia Inc. in WIAV Solutions LLC's patent infringement suit against several companies over cell phone link adaptation technology, ruling that genuine issues of material fact exist in the case.

Judge Robert E. Payne in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia on Tuesday struck down Nokia and Motorola's bids for summary judgment of invalidity, noninfringement and no willful infringement, but approved their motion to limit presuit damages.
