VirnetX Sues Cisco, Apple Over Communications IP

Law360, New York (August 12, 2010, 2:47 PM EDT) -- VirnetX Inc. has filed an infringement suit against Cisco Systems Inc., Apple Inc., NEC Corp. and Aastra Technologies Ltd. over five communications security patents, including two patents over which Microsoft Corp. reached a $200 million settlement with the Internet security company.

Scotts Valley, Calif.-based VirnetX filed its complaint, signed by McKool Smith PC's Douglas Cawley, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Wednesday.

According to the complaint, Apple has infringed U.S. Patent Numbers 6,502,135 and 7,490,151.
