U.K. Mulls Fund To Aid Patent Litigation

Law360, New York (July 29, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.K. has unveiled plans for a government-backed insurance scheme that would help inventors litigate against rivals that infringe their patents, with a provision for a panel of U.S. litigators working on a contingency basis.

In a “scooping study” released Thursday, the U.K. Patent Office called for the creation of a mutual insurance association to provide a fund of at least £50,000 for each member to allow companies to take patent infringers to court.
