Patent Suit Sanctions Against McKool, Sidley Tossed

Law360, New York (August 13, 2010, 5:08 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has vacated $35,000 in sanctions against law firms including Sidley Austin LLP and McKool Smith PC for bad behavior in an action Highmark Inc. brought against AllCare Health Systems Inc. seeking $5.5 million in attorneys' fees for its allegedly baseless assertion of an information management system patent.

Judge Terry R. Means of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas tossed out the sanctions against Sidley Austin on Thursday, after throwing out the rest Monday.
