Air Products Says FTC Deal Will Aid $5B Airgas Takeover

Law360, New York (August 16, 2010, 2:53 PM EDT) -- Air Products and Chemicals Inc. said Monday it has reached a consent decree with the Federal Trade Commission that the company believes will allow it to complete its $5.3 billion hostile takeover of Airgas Inc.

Air Products will be allowed to complete the acquisition once Airgas divests assets related to liquid bulk and on-site supply of atmospheric gases, Air Products said in a statement. The consent decree would allow Air Products to complete the acquisition before the divestitures are finalized, the company said.
